If you’re anything like me, you’ve been captivated by dinosaurs for as long as you can remember. Ever since I was a wide-eyed 4-year-old carrying around my favorite dinosaur toys, I knew paleontology wasn’t just a phase—it was my passion. From that curious kid who couldn’t get enough of dinos to the now nearly 30-year-old who has turned that love into a full-blown career, my journey has always been about one thing: connecting with the wonder and mystery of our planet's ancient past.
As a paleontologist, I’ve been lucky enough to travel across the United States, unearthing incredible dinosaur fossils in places like Montana, Utah, and beyond. Each dig site was more than just a chance to discover something new—it was an opportunity to step back in time, to uncover the stories these ancient creatures left behind. From the tiniest detail in a bone to the sprawling landscape of an excavation site, I’ve had the privilege of piecing together how these magnificent animals lived, thrived, and ultimately vanished.
But the adventure didn’t stop in the deserts. After countless hours in the field, I spent just as much time in the lab, analyzing every fossil fragment. What did these dinosaurs eat? How did they grow? How strong were they? These were the questions that fueled my work and kept me coming back day after day, unlocking the secrets that fossils held.
During graduate school, something unexpected happened—I discovered how much I loved sharing these stories with others. I began doing public outreach, sharing my research with people of all ages. Watching someone’s face light up as they experience their own “Ah-ha!” moment, seeing their eyes widen as they learned something new about our planet's history—that was just as exciting as the dig itself. I realized that knowledge isn’t truly powerful unless it’s shared.
That’s why I created Daily Dino Guy—to bring the wonder of dinosaurs to people everywhere. Now, I travel the world teaching people not just about dinosaurs, but about the science that helps us understand our ancient history. My goal is to make science fun, engaging, and accessible for everyone. After all, what's the point of science if no one’s there to experience it, question it, and be inspired by it?
