Meet the Paleontologist Behind Daily Dino Guy
Daily Dino Guy is the publication, community, and learning hub built by Evan Jevnikar, MS, a paleontologist teaching dinosaur science to more than 300,000 readers online.
I'm Evan Jevnikar, a paleontologist and science storyteller with a Master's in Biological Sciences from NC State University, where I studied tyrannosaur growth and histology in Dr. Lindsay Zanno's paleontology lab. Before NC State, I earned my Bachelor's in Geology from the University of Kansas.
I've spent the last decade in the field across Montana, Utah, and beyond, working on excavations of Nanotyrannus, Fona herzogae, and other Cretaceous-era dinosaurs. I've spent just as much time in the lab, cutting bone histology samples, reconstructing growth curves, and asking the kinds of questions that turn fossils into stories. That research became my first book, Surviving Climate and Chaos, about what 250 million years of mass extinction history can teach us about climate resilience.
Since then, the work has expanded beyond the field. I've partnered with HarperCollins on a book launch that landed on the New York Times bestseller list. I've spoken at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, and I'm an invited speaker at the Field Museum in Chicago and the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
Somewhere in graduate school, I realized the most powerful version of paleontology isn't the version that stays in academic journals. So I started teaching dinosaur science online, one short video at a time. That's how Daily Dino Guy began. Five years and 300,000 readers later, this is where I keep all of it, the science, the stories, the community, and the people who get just as excited about a new theropod paper as I do.
