Accessibility statement

Daily Dino Guy is committed to making dinosaur science accessible to every curious human, including those who use assistive technology.

Our commitment

We believe that paleontology, like any field of knowledge, should be open to everyone. We design and build dailydinoguy.com to be usable by people with the widest possible range of abilities, including those who navigate using a keyboard, use a screen reader, need larger text, prefer high-contrast colors, or are sensitive to motion.

Conformance target

We aim to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and more user-friendly for everyone.

What we've done

  • Semantic HTML throughout, with proper heading order and landmarks for screen readers.
  • Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images.
  • Keyboard-accessible navigation, forms, and interactive elements.
  • Visible focus states on all interactive elements.
  • Color contrast that meets or exceeds WCAG AA requirements for body copy and interactive elements.
  • A floating accessibility widget (bottom-left of every page) that lets you toggle larger text, high contrast, and reduced motion. Your choices save to your browser.
  • Forms with associated labels, clear error messaging, and a generous click target size.
  • Responsive layouts that work down to 320px wide and remain usable at 200% zoom.

Tested compatibility

This site is tested for compatibility with the following:

  • Recent versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge on desktop and mobile.
  • VoiceOver on macOS and iOS.
  • Keyboard-only navigation.

Known limitations

We're working toward full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance, but some areas may still fall short. We're aware of and actively working to address:

  • Some embedded third-party content (videos, social embeds) may not match the site's accessibility standards.
  • Older blog articles may not yet include full descriptive alt text on every image. We're updating these in batches.

Report an issue

If you encounter a page or feature that's not accessible to you, or if you have a suggestion for how we can do better, please email hello (at) dailydinoguy.com with "Accessibility feedback" in the subject line. We aim to respond within 5 business days and will tell you when we expect to ship a fix.
